Junior forward Taylor Rieger (Lewis Center/Olentangy Orange) and sophomore midfielder Colton Bloecher (Lewis Center/Olentangy Orange) scored goals and senior goalkeeper Paul Hendricks (Columbus/Worthington Kilbourne) made a key save as top-ranked Ohio Wesleyan played to a draw with 13th-ranked Christopher Newport on Friday in Newport News, Va.

The game's scoring was concentrated into a 10-minute span encompassing the last 5 minutes of the first half and the first 5 minutes of the second half.

Ohio Wesleyan took the lead in the 41st minute when freshman midfielder Brian Schaefer (Chatham, N.J.) sent the ball to Rieger at the top of the box, with Rieger turning and firing a shot past CNU keeper Sean Killion.

The Captains evened the game with 1:00 left in the half as Tommy O'Neal's long clearing pass bounced over the Bishop defense, and Mark Brewington got the ball first and lofted it over Hendricks.

Bloecher gave the Bishops the lead in the first 90 seconds of the second half, taking a pass from junior midfielder Paolo Bucci (Dublin/Bishop Watterson) and one-timing a shot past a diving Killion.

Jalon Brown tied the game for the Captains when he dribbled into the box and fired a shot into the left side of the net in the 50th minute.

Christopher Newport had a chance to take the lead when the Captains were awarded a penalty kick with 7:04 left in regulation time, but Hendricks came up with a save on Andrew Bonorden's kick, preserving the 2-2 tie.

Rieger had a chance to give the Bishops the lead in the 86th minute, but Killion was there for the save.

The Captains had a 3-1 edge in shots during the first overtime, with Hendricks making a save on a header by Sean Moriarty in the 93rd minute.

Ohio Wesleyan returned the favor in the second overtime, outshooting the Captains, 2-1, with Bucci forcing Killion to make a save in the 104th minute.

Christopher Newport outshot Ohio Wesleyan, 19-18.  Hendricks finished with 5 saves, while Killion stopped 4 shots.
