Senior catcher Aaron Caputo (Strongsville) led off the bottom of the ninth with a walk and moved to second on a sacrifice by junior first baseman Devin Van Winkle (Plain City/Jonathan Alder). After taking third on a passed ball, Caputo scored on Stolly's fly ball to center to end the game.
Alvernia had taken a 2-0 lead on Chris Burns' 2-run single in the top of the first.
The Bishops closed to within 2-1 in the second when Stolly doubled and eventually came around to score on an infield out by senior shortstop Justin Dages (Green/Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary).
The Crusaders increased their lead to 4-1 on a sacrifice fly by Burns in the fifth and another by Nathan Sides in the sixth.
Ohio Wesleyan evened the game in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI single by Dages, a sacrifice fly by sophomore outfielder Mitchell Johnson (Columbus/Hamilton Township), and an RBI single by senior outfielder Steven Moore (Hamilton).
Moore, Caputo, senior outfielder C.J. Tosino (Hudson), Stolly, and senior third baseman Tyler Flaherty (Dublin/Scioto) had 2 hits apiece for Ohio Wesleyan.
Senior righthander Pete Munger (Perrysburg) worked the first 5-plus innings on the mound for Ohio Wesleyan, scattering 4 hits. Senior lefthander Ryan Moss (Beachwood) pitched 3.2 innings of hitless relief, striking out 4 and walking one, to collect his first collegiate victory.
Antonio Baglivo was the losing pitcher in relief for Alvernia.
