Gordon Field House is the indoor home of the Battling Bishops' track & field and tennis teams. Dedicated in 1976 and nestled in the middle of the Ohio Wesleyan campus with the adjoining Branch Rickey Arena, the field house is named in recognition of the generosity of Richard Gordon '62, a standout tennis player for the Red and Black.
The field house received new life in 2025 following an extensive interior renovation funded by the late Lloyd Ferguson '62, his wife Martha, their son William '92, and their daughter Diane, along with other family members. The renovation of the nearly 50-year-old building involved installing new windows to increase natural light, a new lighting system and fresh paint for a more vibrant atmosphere, and a complete resurfacing of the track and tennis courts alongside multiple other equipment upgrades. In recognition of the legacy of Ferguson and his family's generosity, Ohio Wesleyan dedicated new track surface as the Lloyd Ferguson Track during Alumni Weekend in May 2026.
Prior to OWU's move to the North Coast Athletic Conference in 1984, Gordon Field House annually hosted the Ohio Athletic Conference championships and the OAISW state title meet. It also hosted the first nine NCAC championship meets.
The field house track encircles four multipurpose courts that can be used for tennis, volleyball or basketball. Additionally, hitting cages can be lowered from the ceiling for indoor battling practice for the Bishops' baseball and softball teams. The total area of the facility is greater than that of a football field, allowing for indoor practice for a multitude of sports.
