Meet the Bishops: Get to know a little about Meg Edwards of the Ohio Wesleyan rowing team
Class Year: 2022
Major: International Studies
How/Why did you choose Ohio Wesleyan?
Ohio Wesleyan roped me in with travel opportunities like the Theory-to-Practice Grants, and because I really got along with everyone I met when I visited.
How/Why did you choose your major?
I am passionate about sustainable development. I would like to work for international organizations! I also just enjoy learning about different cultures and languages.
What made you want to compete on the brand-new Ohio Wesleyan rowing team?
I was looking for a structured way to stay active in college, and I liked the idea of being part of something new.
What are your strengths as an athlete?
I am pretty good at keeping things in perspective, and really pushing myself to do better without becoming too obsessed with competition. Not everyone may see that as a strength, but I believe focusing on how well others are doing can be distracting when what really matters is that I do the very best that I can. I do that, and I prioritize enjoying the sport, not dying over it. I think that makes me a better team member.
If you could visit another time, when would it be and why?
I would like to go back (just for a short time) and see the Midwest before it was all developed into farmland, when the whole continent was mostly forest and prairie and wetlands - that would be very beautiful to see.
