Meet the Bishops: Get to know a little about Erin Bitzer of the Ohio Wesleyan volleyball team.
Name: Erin Bitzer
Class year: Junior
Majors: Exercise science, psychology
How/Why did you choose Ohio Wesleyan?
I actually found OWU by accident when I got lost on my way to a different recruiting visit. Within five minutes of being on campus, my mom had already landed us a tour and a meeting with Coach Cobb. Coach was so welcoming even though she had no idea how I played. That, in combination with the small class sizes and great community feel all helped fuel my decision.
How/Why did you choose your major?
I have always been interested in health in many different ways but was unsure of which path I wanted to take in terms of health professions/studies. For me, psychology and exercise science is the perfect mix of mental and physical health studies so I feel like I am getting a well-rounded view of health.
What are your strengths as an athlete (as an individual)?
I believe on the court my strength is motivating others. I am a very enthusiastic and excited person in my day-to-day life and like to bring that quality out on the court to help pump my team up and congratulate them for their accomplishments.
What is your number one goal, personal or team, for this season?
My number one goal this season is to show everyone the talent and depth we have on our team. I am so proud of the strides this team has made and I can’t wait to show off our talents this year!
What event/sport other than your own would you like to try?
If I didn’t play volleyball I would love to play softball!
If you could have a super power, what would it be?
If I could have a superpower I would choose being telekinetic so I could move things with my mind and never have to get up to get a textbook ever again.
Where is your favorite place to eat in Delaware, and what is your go-to dish there?
My favorite place to eat in Delaware has to be Typhoon and I always get the Angry Bird roll!
Which reality show would you like to star on and why?
I would definitely want to go on The Amazing Race! I have traveled my whole life and I think doing it on TV with all the challenges and sightseeing would be so fun.
