Meet the Bishops: Get to know a little about Ross Eggleston of the Ohio Wesleyan wrestling team.
Name: Ross Eggleston
Class year: Sophomore
Major: Pre-professional zoology
Minor: Chemistry
How/Why did you choose Ohio Wesleyan?
I chose Ohio Wesleyan for the fantastic zoology program and the resources that they have, and because of the opportunity to build a wrestling program from the ground up.
How/Why did you choose your major?
I chose my major because I have always been fascinated by the animal kingdom. I grew up watching Animal Planet and The Crocodile Hunter, and after taking a zoology elective in high school, I knew that was what I wanted to study.
Why did you choose to compete in sports at Ohio Wesleyan?
I knew coming out of high school that I wanted to continue my athletic career and when I found out on my visit that Coach Reid had been hired to build a wrestling program here, I knew I wanted to be a part of that program.
What are your strengths as an athlete (as an individual)?
One of our team mottos is "be comfortable being uncomfortable," and I think that in particular is one of my strengths as an athlete. I am a very competitive person, and as a result I’m willing to do whatever I can to outwork my opponent.
What is your number one goal, personal or team, for this season?
My main goal for this season is to continue to improve my technique and conditioning/physicality so that when my opponent is exhausted I know that I can keep going and pushing the pace.
What event/sport other than your own would you like to try?
I also run track and field here at Ohio Wesleyan, so I would still do that.
If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
I would definitely pick time manipulation, because my schedule is packed tight and I would love to get more sleep.
What are your three favorite movies?
13 Hours, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and The Dark Knight.
If you could visit another time when would it be and why?
I would visit ancient Rome or Greece, as those two civilizations have always interested me.
If you were told you had only one week left to live, what would be on your bucket list?
I would go visit Australia and see as much wildlife as I can.
