Name: Caroline Kiker
Class Year: 2023
Major: Inclusive elementary education
Why did you choose Ohio Wesleyan?
I chose Ohio Wesleyan because the campus just gave me a home-like feeling. I loved the beautiful buildings on the academic side and wanted a smaller school so I could connect with my professors. Academics are also important to me and after meeting professors in my major, I knew it was the right fit! I also loved how the majority of the campus is involved in sports. My father also went to Ohio Wesleyan and had a great experience!
Why did you choose your major?
Ever since I was little, I was interested in working with children and wanted to help them in any way possible. I love the idea of "setting them up" for their future! It is extremely interesting to me how their brains develop over time, and the parts that go into that process. Teachers impact kids in amazing ways and I want to be that impact for them!
What is your favorite memory on an Ohio Wesleyan team?
My favorite memory on the women's lacrosse team was our spring break trip to Sarasota, Florida, in spring 2020! We bonded so much as a team and it was a really fun experience traveling to a different state together.
What are your strengths as an athlete (as an individual)?
One of my biggest strengths for me personally is my speed on the field! I also have a love for running and I love how I can do that on the field. Keeping the positive energy is also important to me.
What is your number one goal, personal or team, for this season?
One personal goal I have is just improving my stick skills to the best of my ability. I also want to become a bigger leader on the team and be encouraging throughout all practices and games.
What event/sport other than your own would you like to try?
I have always loved watching volleyball, but never played it as a kid! In another life I would love to try this sport!
Is there a specific coach or teammate who has helped you get where you are?
Sophomore Sophia DelGallo on the women's lacrosse team has impacted me in such a positive way. Not only is she an amazing friend, she is someone I look up to as a player. Her stick skills, communication, and positive attitude make me a better player everyday.
Which three people, living or dead, would you like to share a meal with?
Billie Eilish, Taylor Swift, and Zendaya are three powerful women I would love to share a meal with!
What is your favorite place to eat in Delaware, and what is your go-to dish there?
My favorite place to eat in town is The Flying Pig. They have really great wings!
