Playing for the Bishops and the tradition that comes with that is just an amazing feeling.
Name: D.J. Neff
Class Year: 2023
Major: Business administration
Why did you choose Ohio Wesleyan?
The first steps I took on campus on my visit, the coaches and staff made me feel at home, and I love downtown Delaware.
Why did you choose your major?
My mom and dad have both worked in the business field and I was part of business classes and clubs in high school.
Why did you choose to compete in sports at Ohio Wesleyan?
Playing for the Bishops and the tradition that comes with that is just an amazing feeling. Coach (Tyler) Mott and Coach (Jon Koepf) showed they truly cared about me in my recruitment, and have made me a better player in every aspect of my game.
What is your favorite memory on an Ohio Wesleyan team?
My favorite memory is hitting a walkoff home run in Florida my freshman year. It was not only my first college home run but was the day we found out our season was over. To be able to make something positive out of that day meant a lot to me.
What are your strengths as an athlete (as an individual)?
I would definitely say it's my work ethic. I always give 110 percent and go the extra mile to make sure I'm someone the team can count on.
Is there a specific coach or teammate who has helped you get where you are?
I would say Luigi Russo and Ralph Good have definitely helped me this year (to) push myself to the next level. We started the breakfast club, and just being able to get up and compete with those guys has been a push for me.
What event/sport other than your own would you like to try?
I played football in high school so I'd probably try to get back into that.
Which three people, living or dead, would you like to share a meal with?
The three people I would pick are my great grandpa, who passed away when I was little; Ken Griffey, Jr.; and Joe Burrow.
What is your favorite place to eat in Delaware, and what is your go-to dish there?
My favorite place to eat is Mi Cerrito. Me and my friends ate there every Tuesday during fall semester. Go-to dish is 3 soft tacos and a ton of chips and salsa.
What is your ideal travel destination and why?
I would love to go Hawai'i just because I love the beach and to see all the sights.
