Why did you choose Ohio Wesleyan?
I was awarded an academic scholarship to study in America and after completing research, the university's prestigious reputation and reviews from past students stood out from other schools. The university's sport programmes and facilities were a massive deciding factor for me and made it very easy for me to choose Ohio Wesleyan. As an international student, the school is only 30 minutes from a major airport, which was an incentive as I enjoy traveling.
Why did you choose your major?
After completing work experience at Solicitors office, I immediately knew I would enjoy a legal career. The opportunity to work in a respected and challenging profession while being able to make a difference and assist clients through legal issues was enticing.
What is your number one goal, personal or team, for this season?
This season I would like to get personal bests at the (North Coast Athletic Conference) championships in the 100-yard freestyle and breaststroke. I also want to use this season as a stepping stone for my fitness for water polo so that I’m fit when I go back home to Ireland.
What athletic or academic achievement/accomplishment are you most proud of?
Winning the Irish Senior Water Polo Cup 2021/2022 was a life goal of mine and to achieve this was amazing! Also, representing the Irish National Team at junior level was a great accomplishment.
Is there a specific coach or teammate who has helped you get where you are?
Mattias Lindberg is a teammate on the (Ohio Wesleyan) swim team who always motivates me to give 100 percent each training session, whether it's in the pool or the gym. A good bit of friendly competition goes a long way!
What are your plans for after graduation?
I plan to complete a Master's degree in commercial law and secure a legal training contract for a magic circle law firm with a goal of practicing law in a major city while also representing Ireland on an international level for water polo.
What was it like getting adjusted to OWU from Ireland?
The transition period and getting adjusted was a lot to take in at the beginning, however I was made to feel very welcome by everyone. I was introduced to lots of new friends and my professors, which made getting adjusted very simple.
