Name: Hannah Cox
Class year: 2024
Major: Environmental science
Why did you choose Ohio Wesleyan?
I chose Ohio Wesleyan because a college counselor believed I could thrive at OWU with the many opportunities that would be available for me and my future career.
Why did you choose your major?
I have always had a deep passion for the environment. In pursuing a career in environmental science, I am a voice for an environment that cannot speak for itself. Although humans are damaging the Earth, we can also be sources of protection for it.
Why did you choose your position?
I chose to play on defense because I felt like my strengths leaned more defensively after transitioning from high school to college lacrosse.
Do you have any pre-event rituals or superstitions?
The pregame locker room time is essential. It is when everyone is getting hyped up for the game, with music blaring that we all know and love. Being in that environment helps us significantly not only in feeling prepared but more bonded as a team.
Is there a specific coach or teammate who has helped you get where you are?
My coach, Paige Messersmith, has watched me go through a lot. During my freshman year, I changed positions and soon after tore my ACL before our season began. She has watched me recover and grow as an athlete, becoming more comfortable in a new position and with a "new knee". I would also like to give a shout-out to Anna Nacci ('24, attack), she has been one of my biggest support systems on and off the team and she never fails to pick me up with her kindness and humor.
What is your favorite place to eat in Delaware, and what is your go-to dish there?
My favorite place to eat in Delaware is Mi Cerrito. My go-to dish is their steak quesadilla, it has never failed me.
What is your hype-up song?
The Spins by Mac Miller
If you could have a super power, what would it be?
