Name: Lucas Weaver
Class year: 2027
Major: Sociology/Anthropology
Why did you choose Ohio Wesleyan?
I chose Ohio Wesleyan for the way I'm able to communicate with faculty and students. It feels like I'm on the same page with everyone I interact with.
Why did you choose your major?
I chose sociology/anthropology as a major because I am interested in addressing interaction and conflict within society.
Why did you choose to compete in sports at Ohio Wesleyan?
I chose to compete in sports at Ohio Wesleyan University because my passion for cross country and track keeps me in shape (both physically and mentally).
Do you have any pre-event rituals or superstitions?
Before each race at the starting line, I pray as an expression of gratitude. I also typically wear a pair of SpongeBob socks to remind myself to have F.U.N.
What are your strengths as an athlete (as an individual)?
I find that when things get difficult, I'm good about persevering and trusting the process.
Is there a specific coach or teammate who has helped you get where you are?
My old teammate and best friend, Connor. He pushed me to be at my best in the serious moments, while also helping me enjoy the not-so-serious moments.
What is your ideal travel destination?
I've always wanted to go to outer space. Imagine all the bragging rights you would have!
If you could visit another time, when would it be and why?
I would visit my senior year, when me and my 4x4 relay team broke our school's record, which was previously set in 1977. The joy and excitement shared in that moment was like no other!
What is your dream job and why?
My dream job is to be a choir director because of the influence of choral music in my own life. It has the ability to unite others through a beautiful type of self-expression.
What is your favorite book and why?
My favorite book is "Win The Day" by Mark Batterson. It has lots of quotes I still use today, such as "Your brave is someone else's breakthrough" and "Don't put a period where God puts a comma."
