...I also recognize the value of an economics and business degree and I didn't want to pass up the opportunity to pursue something I was really passionate about.

Name:  Ryan Stefancin

Class year:  2024

Majors:  Economics and business management with a communication minor

Why did you choose Ohio Wesleyan?
I chose Ohio Wesleyan due to its promising athletics and education.  OWU has allowed me to continue playing the sport that I love and I was recognized for the hard work I put in throughout my lifetime.  Lastly, I love the Columbus area and what it has to offer!

Why did you choose your major?
Economics has always been a part of my life in some way or another and I learned these things at a very young age because of my father, so when it was time to decide my major, it was an easy decision.  I also recognize the value of an economics and business degree and I didn't want to pass up the opportunity to pursue something I was really passionate about.

Why did you choose to compete in sports at Ohio Wesleyan?
I chose to compete in baseball at Ohio Wesleyan because of how well the coaches treated me during the recruiting process.  I also liked how a lot of the other recruits were from Ohio (like myself) and I instantly connected with them for this reason.  Furthermore, like most people in my class, we didn't get a senior year of athletics due to COVID and I knew I wasn't done playing the sport that I love.

What is your favorite memory on an Ohio Wesleyan team?
My favorite memory on the baseball team has to be the traveling that we did throughout my time here.  Florida and Tennessee are the two trips that I remember enjoying the most, not only was the weather super nice but we also got to compete against some good teams and it's always fun to challenge myself.

Do you have any pre-event rituals or superstitions?
Like most athletes, we have pre-game rituals that we always do such as eating the same thing before a game or wearing the same undershirt (washed of course).  As for me, I am a very superstitious guy and have to do things in 3's. For example, if I tap my foot before I get into the box, I will have to do it 3 times before I actually step in.

Why did you choose your position?
I originally came in to play shortstop at OWU but quickly realized my talents would be better suited in the outfield given how fast of a player I am.  This has led me to get a lot of playing time and the opportunity to start the last 2 years so I am very grateful for the position change.

What are your strengths as an athlete (as an individual)?
As an athlete, I would say my greatest strength is my mindset and the ability to flush errors or poor hits out of my head. This allows me to stay sharp and consistent throughout the game, and I have my family to thank.

What are your plans for after graduation?
Following graduation at OWU, I will be attending Case Western Reserve University, where I will be receiving a master's in finance.  This is a two-semester-long program so I plan to live in my hometown of Cleveland for the time being.

What is your theme song?
"All Me" by Drake

Which three people, living or dead, would you like to share a meal with?
This was one of the questions on my Case application, and I said I would eat a meal with Leonardo da Vinci, Oprah Winfrey, and Jackie Robinson.  These people to me are the definition of adversity and creativity and I would love to pick their brains and learn about them.

What is your favorite movie character and why?
My favorite movie character is Adam from "The Adam Project" on Netflix.  Adam is acted by Ryan Reynolds, who is incredibly funny, so that's probably why.  This also happens to be one of my favorite movies.

What is your favorite book and why?
My favorite book has to be "The 48 Laws of Power" by Robert Greene.  This book is filled with tons of information that helps unlock your best self and that is something that I think everyone should strive for in their life.
