Why did you choose Ohio Wesleyan?
I chose Ohio Wesleyan because of the close proximity to home, the welcoming coaches, and the amazing facilities they have to offer.
Why did you choose your major?
I chose biology and nursing because I have my foot in the door to nursing as a state-tested nursing assistant and I am working in a nursing home. I chose biology along with nursing to further develop my education and be able to have two bachelor's degrees.
Why did you choose to compete in sports at Ohio Wesleyan?
I couldn't imagine a life without playing sports. Sports have always been a huge part of my life and collegiate sports have always been my next step. The track team here welcomed me with open arms and made me feel at home.
Which is your favorite event?
My favorite event is shot put. I have worked at this event for years and have really pushed myself to be better and make myself work for more.
Do you have any pre-event rituals or superstitions?
I have a specific shot put routine when I enter the ring that I have done since my freshman year of high school. I lift the shot above my head, move my hair off of my neck, and step into the ring at the same spot every time.
Why do you like your event?
I like my event because it is very easygoing and supportive. Lots of girls that throw shot put really love to compete with each other and push each other to do better.
What are your strengths as an athlete (as an individual)?
My strengths as an athlete would be my work ethic and hard-headedness. I don't give up very easily and I love to be pushed past what I think I can do.
What event/sport other than your own would you like to try?
If I were to do another sport, I would play volleyball. I played volleyball for 12 years before coming to OWU, my career including many different national travel teams, 9 high school titles, and a Ohio D2 state runner-up title. I miss the sport more than anything and would love to get back on the court.
Is there a specific coach or teammate who has helped you get where you are?
My coaches, Kris Boey and Dennis Kline, have really provided me with the support I need to adjust well here at Ohio Wesleyan. Along with my coaches, my thrower friends Phoebe Dreschel and Emily Davis have made the start of my freshman season so enjoyable and support me through everything.
What is your theme song?
My pump-up song changes frequently but at the moment it is "Woah" by Lil Baby.
Which three people, living or dead, would you like to share a meal with?
My late friend Emma, who passed last year, Tom Hanks, and my great grandma
What advice would you give to someone considering becoming a student-athlete?
I would tell someone who is considering becoming a student athlete to not let the intimidating factors scare you and to go for it! Although it is hard sometimes, the memories and friendships that come along with being a student-athlete are 100 percent worth it.
What is your favorite season and why?
My favorite season is fall because it is good weather for track practice, we all get in our routines at OWU, we get to go to football games, and it is a fun campus environment.
What is your dream job and why?
My dream job would be to work in the emergency room as a nurse or a physician's assistant. I would love the fast pace of the ER and being able to help people in need.
