Cross Country Forecast for Third Place at NCAC Championship

North Coast Athletic Conference men's cross country coaches have tabbed Wabash as the favorite to win the 2011 NCAC championship.

The 2011 NCAC cross country championships will be held on October 29th at John Bryan State Park in Yellow Springs, Ohio, and will be hosted by Wittenberg. The women's race starts at 11:00 a.m., followed by the men's race at 11:45 a.m.

The Little Giants, who finished runner-up to Allegheny in the 2010 NCAC championships, earned seven of the 10 first-place votes cast for 95 points from the coaches to top second-place Allegheny. The Gators, who have captured the last seven NCAC titles, totalled 92 points, including the final three first-place votes. Ohio Wesleyan rounded out the top three in the poll with 81 points, while DePauw and Oberlin tied for fourth with 65 points. Rounding out the poll in spots sixth through ten, respectively, were Denison (49), Wittenberg (35), Wooster (32), Kenyon (26) and Hiram (10).

Denison senior Dee Salukombo is the top returning individual finisher from the 2010 championship after placing third behind in a time of 25:44, while Ohio Wesleyan senior Sharif Kronemer (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook) also returns as a top-five finisher from last year's championship event after finishing fifth in a time of 26:07.
