Senior attacker Macie Miller (Kettering/Fairmont) racked up a goal and an assist to highlight a 3-goal, first-half outburst that started Ohio Wesleyan on its way to a North Coast Athletic Conference win over Earlham on Wednesday in Richmond, Ind.
Miller staked the Bishops to a 1-0 lead with an unassisted score in the 16th minute, then set up junior attacker Abbie Martin (Afton, N.Y./Central) on a goal in the 23rd minute.
Sophomore attacker Sadie Slager (Hudson) wrapped up the Ohio Wesleyan scoring with an unassisted goal with :56 left in the first half.
The Bishops kept up the offensive pressure during the second half, firing 10 shots at the Quaker cage, but Earlham keeper Emma Treece bounced back to make 6 saves during the period to keep the Quakers in the game.
Ohio Wesleyan outshot Earlham, 16-1. Sophomore Emily Temple (Dublin/Scioto) was not tested in the Ohio Wesleyan cage. Treece finished with 7 saves for the Quakers.
