Harriers Finish Third at NCAC Championship

3rd of 10 at NCAC championship

Ohio Wesleyan had a league-high 5 runners win All-North Coast Athletic Conference honors, but Wabash and Allegheny edged the Bishops in the team standings at the NCAC championship meet, hosted by Wittenberg University on Saturday in Yellow Springs, Ohio.

Wabash won the meet with 52 points, besting Allegheny's total of 65 points and Ohio Wesleyan's score of 67 points. Wabash and Allegheny each placed 3 runners in the top 10 to trump the Bishops' collection of 5 runners in the top 18. Oberlin finished fourth with 115 points, followed by DePauw (140), Denison (146), Wooster (193), Kenyon (201), Wittenberg (207), and Hiram (289).

Junior Shane Brandt (Painesville/Riverside) won first-team All-NCAC honors, finishing seventh overall in 26:00.8.

Junior Nathan Kafity (Huron/Lake Ridge Academy) and senior Evan Hitchcock (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) were second-team all-conference honorees, placing 12th and 13th respectively in times of 26:19.9 and 26:22.6.

Senior Kale Booher (Covington/Newton) and senior Sharif Kronemer (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook) received honorable mention All-NCAC laurels after finishing 17th and 18th in respective times of 26:30.7 and 26:31.5. Both were first-team All-NCAC picks in 2010.

Junior Tyler Tomazic (Medina/Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary) finished 30th in 27:13.1, and sophomore Ian McCaslin (Prospect, Ky./Saint Xavier) was 40th in 27:24.8.
