Junior wing Julia Grimsley (Alliance) scored to bring Ohio Wesleyan within 6 points early in the second half, but Baldwin Wallace responded with a 12-2 run and went on to take a win in the first round of the Franklin Tip-Off Tournament, hosted by Franklin College on Friday in Franklin, Ind.

Ohio Wesleyan will face Spalding in the tournament's consolation game on Saturday.  Franklin defeated Spalding, 59-56, in Friday's opener.

The Bishops built an early 7-3 lead on a 3-point play by sophomore guard Sarah McQuade (Dublin/Coffman) and a free throw from junior post Tamra Londot (Utica).

Baldwin Wallace scored the next 11 points to take the lead for good, collecting lay-ins from Janaya Feaster, Jessica Lairson, and Natalia Simovic and a 3-pointer from Alissa Munro to take a 14-7 lead.

McQuade ended the Bishops' 6-minute scoring drought with a jumper at the 9:46 mark of the period, and it was still a 5-point game at the break thanks to a 3-pointer from sophomore wing Caroline Welker (Delaware/Hayes).

The Yellow Jackets threatened to run off with the contest by scoring the first 7 points of the second half, getting baskets from Lairson, Lexi Rohrbach, and Rachel Rossman, along with a free throw from She'Kiera Brooks.

Ohio Wesleyan answered with a pair of free throws by McQuade, a jumper from senior post Helen Scheblo (Canal Winchester/St. Francis DeSales), and a Grimsley fast-break lay-in that brought the Bishops within 35-29 with 15:11 left in regulation time.

BW countered with a Brooks jumper, a trio of Simovic lay-ins, and a Munro 3-pointer that extended the margin to 47-31 with 11:02 to play, and the lead would remain in double digits throughout the remainder of the contest.

Welker led the Bishops with 12 points, and McQuade finished with 11 points along with a team-best 3 assists.  Sophomore wing Mary Corbett (Columbus/Upper Arlington) grabbed a team-high 6 rebounds.

Munro led Baldwin Wallace with 12 points, going 4-for-4 from beyond the arc, and Lairson added 10 points and a game-high 7 boards.
