Box Score
Allegheny 66, Ohio Wesleyan 48

Freshman wing Emily Julius (Avon) sank a pair of jumpers that gave Ohio Wesleyan an early lead, but Allegheny pulled away with a 10-0 run late in the first half and went on to defeat the Bishops in the North Coast Athletic Conference opener for both teams on Saturday in Meadville, Pa.

The Gators had taken a 3-0 lead on a Rachel Vigliotti free throw and an Ann Ryan jumper, but back-to-back Julius jumpers gave the Bishops a 4-3 lead exactly 2 minutes into the game.

After trailing by as many as 9 points, the Bishops rallied to within 3 as sophomore post Kristin Henning (Beavercreek) hit a pair of baskets and Julius and sophomore wing Mary Corbett (Columbus/Upper Arlington) added buckets.  Henning's second score narrowed the deficit to 23-20 with 5:32 left in the first half.

Allegheny answered with a jumper by Makenzie Zidek, then got 4 straight hoops by Emma Pellicano, the last 2 coming on fast breaks, to take a 33-20 lead with 2:08 remaining in the period.

Junior post Tamra Londot (Utica) ended the Gator run with a bucket, then opened the second-half scoring with a lay-in that brought the Bishops within 34-24, but the Gators answered with a 10-0 run that included baskets by Vigliotti, Kendall Hoffman, Daryl Ford, and Ryan, and the lead would remain in double figures throughout the remainder of the game.

Julius led the Bishops with 13 points, while sophomore guard Sarah McQuade (Dublin/Coffman) added 10 points and a team-high 4 assists.  Londot and Henning shared the team lead with 6 rebounds apiece.

Ford led Allegheny with 17 points.
