Six Ohio Wesleyan University field hockey players were named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III National Academic Squad, it was announced by the NFHCA.
Freshman attacker Colleen Bodee (Flossmoor, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor), sophomore defender Kay Cantwell (Louisville, Ky./Atherton), sophomore midfielder Meg Greff (Hopkinton, Mass.), senior midfielder Alyse Marotta (Dublin/Jerome), senior defender Kelsey Morrison (Hudson/Western Reserve), and sophomore attacker Sadie Slager (Hudson) were honored by the NFHCA.
The National Academic Squad recognizes student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2011-12 academic year.
The Ohio Wesleyan team also was honored by the NFHCA, receiving a National Academic Team Award. The National Academic Team Award recognizes teams which achieve a minimum grade point average of 3.0 during the first semester of the 2011-12 academic year. A total of 106 Division III institutions received National Academic Team Awards.
Ohio Wesleyan finished the season with a 6-12 record. The Battling Bishops finished with a 4-10 record in NCAC competition, tying for sixth place in the final league standings.
