at Allegheny Invitational

Senior Caleb Chiero (Westerville/Central) was leading Ohio Wesleyan after the first round of the Allegheny Invitational, hosted by Allegheny College on Saturday in Meadville, Pa.

Wittenberg was leading the tournament with a 304, holding a 4-stroke lead over Wooster.  Allegheny and Denison were tied for third place at 310, followed by Ohio Wesleyan (311), DePauw (313), Wabash (329), Kenyon (331), Hiram (334), and Oberlin (412).  The tournament is the first of 2 events in the North Coast Athletic Conference championship tour.

Chiero shot a first-round 71, holding a one-shot lead over Wooster's Michael Peters in the individual standings.

Junior Jerry Moore (Mogadore) was tied for 11th place at 77, freshman Jon Neroni (Kettering/Alter) was tied for 22nd place with an 81, senior Justin Akers (Richwood/North Union) was tied for 26th place at 82, and senior Nate Fridley (Sidney/Lehman Catholic) was tied for 28th place with an 83.

The Allegheny Invitational's second round is scheduled for Sunday.
