Ohio Wesleyan University senior Matt Martin (New Brighton, Pa./Riverside) was named to the Capital One Academic All-District® VII men's track & field/cross country teams, it was announced today.
Martin was a first-team Academic All-District® pick.
Martin recently won All-America honors as a member of Ohio Wesleyan's 1600-meter relay team, helping the Bishops to a third-place finish in a school-record 3:10.40 at last weekend's NCAA Division III championship meet. He helped the Bishop 1600-meter relay team set a North Coast Athletic Conference record at the NCAC championship meet, and was a member of the Ohio Wesleyan 1600-meter relay team that finished as national runner-up at the NCAA Division III indoor championship meet in March. Martin majors in politics & government and minors in geology and religion.
The Capital One Academic All-District® teams are selected by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America, with District VII consisting of schools in Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois. To be considered for the teams, one must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or better and be a starter or important reserve.
