Junior attacker Tommy Minkler (Oakton, Va./Landon School) had a goal and 2 assists during a game-opening 5-0 run, and junior attacker John Umbach (Montclair, N.J.) scored twice during a 5-0 second-quarter run as Ohio Wesleyan built a 10-2 halftime lead and went on to record a non-conference win over St. Vincent on Wednesday at Selby Stadium.

Minkler put the Bishops on the scoreboard less than 2 minutes into the game, and Umbach followed with a goal less than 2 minutes after that.  Junior midfielder Brendan Bouchard (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y.) and senior midfielder Spencer Schnell (Dublin/Jerome) followed with goals as the Bishops moved to a 4-0 lead after the first quarter, and Ohio Wesleyan opened the second period with Minkler setting up junior midfielder Kyle Foster (Medfield, Mass./Avon Old Farms (Conn.)) on a goal to make it 5-0.

The Bearcats ended the Bishop run on Nick Pensyl's goal at the 8:56 mark of the second quarter, but Minkler answered with a goal just 31 seconds later to kick off Ohio Wesleyan's second 5-0 run of the half.  Back-to-back goals from Umbach, and scores by Bouchard and Foster extended the Bishop lead to 10-1 with 2:05 left in the half.

St. Vincent wrapped up the first-half scoring with Tim Oxenreiter's goal with 1:34 remaining, and the Bearcats opened the second half with a Sean Kretovics man-up score to pull within 10-3.

Goals by Umbach and freshman midfielder Matt Maier (Summit, N.J.) ended that Bearcat run, and goals by Umbach and Minkler wrapped up the Bishop scoring.

Umbach led the Bishops with 5 goals and 2 assists, while Minkler finished with 3 goals and 2 assists.  Schnell compiled a goal and 3 assists, and Bouchard and Foster each contributed 2 goals and an assist.

Junior Ryan McMahon (Springfield, Va./The Bullis School) recorded 5 saves during the first 3 quarters, and freshman Ben Rigger (Decatur, Ga.) had 2 saves during the fourth quarter.

Tim Oxenreiter led St. Vincent with a goal and an assist, and Matt Mackey collected 2 assists.  Greg Gonzalez went the distance in the Bearcat cage, making 11 saves.
