Senior midfielder Spencer Schnell (Dublin/Jerome) gave Ohio Wesleyan an early lead, but fifth-ranked Salisbury assembled a pair of 4-0 runs on the way to a non-conference win on Sunday in Bethesda, Md.
Schnell scored less than a minute into the contest to stake the Bishops to a 1-0 lead.
The Sea Gulls evened the score on Luke Phipps' goal at the 12:52 mark, then took the lead on a pair of Sean Fitzgerald goals before Nathan Blondino finished off the Salisbury run with a goal with 3:19 left in the first quarter.
Schnell brought the Bishops within 4-2 with a man-up goal just 29 seconds later, but Salisbury answered with a Greg Korvin goal to close out the first quarter, then tacked on scores by Fitzgerald and Thomas Cirillo to extend the lead to 7-2 midway through the second period.
The Bishops pulled to within 8-4 at the half with scores from junior midfielder Kyle Foster (Medfield, Mass./Avon Old Farms (Conn.)) and senior attacker Casey Helms (Sandwich, Mass./Bridgton Academy).
Salisbury opened the second half with its second 4-0 run, collecting goals from Luke Phipps, Cirillo, Fitzgerald, and Zeke Smith to take a 12-4 lead.
Schnell and junior attacker John Umbach (Montclair, N.J.) scored during the final minute of the third period, and junior attacker Tommy Minkler (Oakton, Va./Landon School) brought the Bishops within 12-7 with a goal early in the fourth quarter, but that was as close as Ohio Wesleyan would come.
Schnell led the Bishops with 3 goals and an assist. Junior Ryan McMahon (Springfield, Va./The Bullis School) was credited with 13 saves.
Fitzgerald paced Salisbury with 4 goals. Alex Taylor and Connor Anderson combined for 11 saves in the Sea Gull crease.
