Four Bishops Medal at Mowerson Sprint Meet

Sophomore Greyson Goodwin (Littleton, Colo./Heritage), junior Bryce Uzzolino (Beverly Hills, Fla./Trinity Catholic), sophomore Will Paull (Delaware/Olentangy), and junior Andy Cumston (Marion/Elgin) medaled for Ohio Wesleyan at the Bob Mowerson Sprint Meet, held on Saturday at the International Swimming Hall of Fame Pool in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
 
Uzzolino and Cumston medaled in the William Post Sackett Cup race, a 100-meter freestyle event named for the first president of the Philadelphia Swimming Club.  According to the Philadelphia Swimming Club, the Sackett Cup has been in continuous competition since July 4, 1895, and has been won by more Olympic and American national champions than any other swimming trophy.

Goodwin and Paull medaled in the Sidney S. Asher Cup race, a 400-meter event which is the second-oldest swimming trophy in the world, according to the Philadelphia Swimming Club.

Uzzolino finished second and Cumston was third in the Sackett Cup race.  Cumston also finished third in the 50-meter butterfly.

Goodwin won the Asher Cup race in 4:31.54, with Paull finishing third.  Goodwin also placed second in the 50-meter freestyle.

Ohio Wesleyan outscored Emmanuel, 614-199, in the Mowerson meet.

Senior Kaneat Nimcharoenwan (Bangkok, Thailand/Buckeye Valley) also won an event for Ohio Wesleyan, taking the 50-meter backstroke in :31.31.  He also finished second in the 200-meter IM and third in the 50-meter breaststroke.
 
Other standouts for the Bishops included senior Nate Planisek (Delaware/Hayes), who finished second in the 50-meter breaststroke and third in the 200-meter IM; senior Marcus Ramirez (Ukiah, Calif.), who was second in the 50-meter butterfly; and senior Ryan Stefancik (Richmond Heights/Hawken School), who placed third in the 50-meter backstroke.
