A buzzer-beating basket by senior post Taylor Dickson (Baltimore/Liberty Union) lifted Ohio Wesleyan to a win over Oberlin in a nailbiting overtime period on Saturday afternoon in Branch Rickey Arena.

The win opened the Bishops' North Coast Athletic Conference schedule, while the loss was Oberlin's first in conference play after the Yeowomen opened the league schedule with 3 straight wins, including a victory over defending champion Denison on Wednesday.

Oberlin's Alex Stipano sank a 3-pointer that put the Yeowomen on top at 61-55 with 8:09 left in regulation time.

Junior wing Trischa Lacy (Urbana) hit a 3-pointer to kick off a 10-0 Ohio Wesleyan run.  Lacy then earned a steal and drove for a layup, and senior guard Megan Kuether (Osgood/Marion Local) followed immediately with another steal and basket to lift the Bishops to within 62-61.  A Dickson 3-pointer completed the run, giving Ohio Wesleyan a 65-61 lead with 4:53 to play.

Baskets by Abby Andrews and Olivia Canning gave Oberlin a 66-65 lead, and after a bucket by freshman wing Claire Sterling (West Jefferson), Oberlin's Stipano scored on a fast break for a 68-67 lead with 1:33 remaining.

Lacy missed a pair of free throws with :38 to play, and a final run and shot by Tyler Parlor with 15 seconds on the clock put the Yeowomen ahead, 70-67, with :15 to go.

Keuther then assisted Lacy on a 3-pointer with :07 left, tying the score at 70.

Stipano had a look at the game-winner, but her 3-pointer from the top of the arc hit the rim, sending the teams into overtime.

In overtime, Parlor tallied a basket and a free throw to put Oberlin back on top 75-72 with 90 seconds remaining.

Keuther and freshman wing Nicole Popovich (Rocky River) drove for lay-ins that gave Ohio Wesleyan a 76-75 lead, but a pair of free throws by Abby Andrews gave the lead back to Oberlin at 76-77 with 8 seconds left in the game.

Dickson got the ball near the top of the arc, dribbled to her right, and banked in a shot from the free-throw circle to give the Bishops the win.

After a close first quarter, Oberlin burst through in the second quarter to take a 32-25 lead on baskets from Stipano and Canning.  Three-pointers by Popovich and Dickson helped the Bishops to a 10-0 run before an Andrews 3-point play tied up the board 35-35 before halftime.

A late Oberlin run in the third quarter opened up a 54-48 lead, and the Yeowomen would push that lead back to 6 points before Ohio Wesleyan went on its fourth-quarter run.

Kuether led the Bishops with 21 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists.  Dickson followed with 16 points, freshman post Elea Karras (Bellbrook/Miami Valley) put up 14 points, Lacy finished with 13 points and shared the team lead with 6 boards, and Popovich scored 11 points.

Stipano led Oberlin with 20 points.
