Junior post Taylor Dickson (Baltimore/Liberty Union) sank a free throw that brought Ohio Wesleyan within 58-56 with 2:33 to play, but Oberlin withstood 3 potential game-tying possessions and held on for a North Coast Athletic Conference win over Ohio Wesleyan on Wednesday in Oberlin.

The Bishops trailed, 56-51, when freshman guard Erin Delaney (Toledo/Notre Dame Academy) made it a 3-point game with a lay-in with 3:21 remaining and Dickson hit the first of 2 free throws to bring Ohio Wesleyan within 56-54 at the 2:33 mark.

Oberlin missed shots on its next 2 possessions, but the Bishops were unable to draw any closer as Delaney turned the ball over with 1:53 remaining and senior guard Hanna Fedorka (North Canton/Massillon Jackson) misfired on a jumper at the 1:19 mark.  Oberlin's Tyler Parlor grabbed the defensive rebound but saw her outlet pass go awry, giving the Bishops another chance to tie the game, but junior post Mercedez Wood (Alliance/Marlington) was called for traveling with 1:06 to play.

Fouled with :41 left, Oberlin's Caroline Hamilton hit both free throws to make it a 4-point game, and the Yeowomen sealed the game at the free throw line, with Abby Andrews sinking a pair with :27 to play and Lindsey Bernhardt adding 2 more with :09 remaining.

The first half was a thrilling affair that saw 10 lead changes and 5 ties while remaining a one-possession game for 19-plus minutes.  Parlor had given Oberlin a 29-27 lead with a lay-in with 2:08 left in the period, but the Bishops closed out the half with 3-pointers by Dickson and junior guard Megan Kuether (Osgood/Marion Local) to take a 33-29 lead at the break.

Ohio Wesleyan assembled a 7-0 run midway through the third quarter, getting a bucket and a 3-pointer from Fedorka and a lay-in by Delaney to turn a 35-33 lead into a 42-33 advantage with 5:40 left.

Oberlin answered with a 9-0 burst, getting a free throw and a pair of hoops from Olivia Canning along the way, to tie the game at 42.  The Yeowomen would take a 46-45 lead on Anna Moore's lay-in during the final minute of the third period, and lay-ins by Andrews, Parlor, and Canning helped Oberlin stretch the lead to 54-46 midway through the fourth quarter.

Kuether knocked down a 3-pointer and Fedorka followed with a lay-in to once again make it a one-possession game, setting up the final few minutes.

Kuether led the Bishops with a game-high 20 points, followed by Dickson with 13, and Fedorka with 12 points and a team-high 10 rebounds.  Delaney led the Bishops with 4 assists.

Bernhardt led the Yeowomen with 15 points.
