Box Score
Ohio Wesleyan 17, Otterbein 4

Senior attacker Marcus Dietz (Westerville/St. Francis DeSales) had 2 goals and sophomore defenseman Trent Schulte (Coronado, Calif.) and freshman attacker Max Tennant (Englewood, Colo./Cherry Creek) added one apiece during a first-quarter run that gave 10th-ranked Ohio Wesleyan the lead for good, and the Bishops went on to record a non-conference win over Otterbein on Wednesday in Westerville.

The win was Ohio Wesleyan's second in as many outings this season against a team that competed in the NCAA Division III playoffs in 2015.  The Bishops defeated Augustana (Ill.) in their season opener on Saturday.

Otterbein took an early 2-0 lead on goals by Marcus Willis and Robbie Guiliano.

Dietz put the Bishops on the scoreboard with an unassisted goal at the 3:59 mark of the first quarter, and Schulte followed with a goal just 20 seconds later.  Another Dietz goal less than a minute after that put Ohio Wesleyan ahead to stay, and Tennant wrapped up the first-quarter outburst with a goal with :36 left in the period.

The Cardinals closed to within 4-3 on Willis' second goal of the game, this one early in the second quarter, but Ohio Wesleyan erupted with 5 goals in a span of just over 3 minutes later in the period to take a 9-3 lead at the intermission.  Tennant scored twice during that Bishop burst, while freshman midfielder Jack Harvey (New Providence, N.J.), junior midfielder Derek Todd (Edina, Minn.), and Derek Bacchiochi (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) added single goals.

Ohio Wesleyan scored the first 8 goals of the second half, extending their run to 13 in a row and 17-1 since late in the first quarter, to seal the victory.

Tennant led the Bishops with 5 goals, while Dietz finished with 3 goals and an assist.  Junior Ben Rigger (Decatur, Ga.) made 5 saves during the first 50-plus minutes in the Ohio Wesleyan crease.  Freshman Jameson Hill (Wilton, Conn.) finished the game in the Bishop goal.

Willis scored 2 goals for Otterbein.  James Gundling and Matt Niemi combined for 11 saves for the Cardinals.
