The Cardinals jumped to an early 2-0 lead on goals by Austin Belz and Patrick Nash.
Ohio Wesleyan evened the score with goals by freshman midfielder Jack Harvey (New Providence, N.J.) and sophomore midfielder Luke Leyden (Northfield, Mass./Northfield Mt. Hermon), but Plattsburgh closed out the first-quarter scoring with a goal by Mike Gay to take a 3-2 lead.
Senior midfielder Cooper Del Zotto (Orangeville, Ontario/Taft School) scored to tie the game at 3 during the opening minutes of the second quarter, and just 37 seconds later, junior midfielder Derek Todd (Edina, Minn.) followed with a goal to give the Bishops their first lead of the day.
Plattsburgh answered with a score by Brendan Damm to even the game at 4, but Tennant followed with back-to-back goals, the first assisted by senior midfielder Sean Roskamp (Chesterfield, Mo./Parkway West) and the second set up by Harvey, to put Ohio Wesleyan ahead to stay.
Maier followed with back-to-back goals of his own, the first set up by Del Zotto and the second of the unassisted variety, to extend the lead to 8-4.
The Cardinals rallied to within 10-7 late in the third quarter, with Patrick Nash and Damm scoring for Plattsburgh, but Ohio Wesleyan finished off the quarter with a burst of 3 goals, getting scores from senior attacker Marcus Dietz (Westerville/St. Francis DeSales), Harvey, and Leyden to take a 13-7 lead going into the final quarter.
Dietz and Tennant scored goals during the fourth period to stretch the margin to 15-8. and Maier and Todd added goals to wrap up the Bishop scoring.
Dietz led the Bishops with 4 goals and an assist, while Maier finished with 3 goals and an assist and Tennant scored 3 goals.
Damm collected 4 goals and an assist for Plattsburgh.
