Freshman attacker Max Tennant (Englewood, Colo./Cherry Creek) rang up 4 goals during the first quarter as ninth-ranked Ohio Wesleyan built a 5-0 lead and went on to defeat Messiah on Wednesday in Towson, Md.

Tennant's first goal, a man-up score courtesy of a feed from junior attacker Matt Maier (Summit, N.J.), put the Bishops on the scoreboard at the 12:46 mark.  He added 2 more goals less than a minute apart for a total of 3 goals in less than 90 seconds.

Senior midfielder Sean Roskamp (Chesterfield, Mo./Parkway West) added a goal later in the period before Tennant wrapped up the first-quarter scoring with another goal off a Maier pass, this one with 2:18 remaining.

The Falcons closed to within 5-2 on a pair of man-up goals by Tyler Goglio midway through the second quarter, but Ohio Wesleyan tallied 4 times in less than 3 minutes late in the period, getting scores from freshman midfielder Jack Harvey (New Providence, N.J.), senior attacker Marcus Dietz (Westerville/St. Francis DeSales), Maier, and Tennant to take a 9-2 lead at the break.

Harvey, Maier, and Dietz contributed goals as the Bishops outscored the Falcons, 3-0, in the third quarter, and Ohio Wesleyan added 5 goals during the fourth quarter, with freshman attacker Jack Jeschke (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy), Tennant, sophomore midfielder Derek Bacchiochi (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township), sophomore defenseman Trent Schulte (Coronado, Calif.), and sophomore midfielder Luke Leyden (Northfield, Mass./Northfield Mt. Hermon) each scoring.

Tennant led the Bishops with 6 goals and an assist.  Dietz and Maier contributed 2 goals and 3 assists apiece.  Junior Ben Rigger (Decatur, Ga.) recorded 8 saves during the first 48-plus minutes in the Ohio Wesleyan crease.  Sophomore Xander Pacilio (Philadelphia, Pa./Springside Chestnut Hill) and freshman Jameson Hill (Wilton, Conn.) had 2 saves apiece during the fourth quarter.
