Men's Lacrosse Defeats Wabash to Go to 5-0 in NCAC

Freshman attacker Max Tennant (Englewood, Colo./Cherry Creek) scored 4 goals and senior attacker Marcus Dietz (Westerville/St. Francis DeSales) added 3 more to help 11th-ranked Ohio Wesleyan build an 11-0 first-quarter lead, and the Bishops went on to a North Coast Athletic Conference victory over Wabash on Wednesday in Crawfordsville, Ind., increasing their NCAC record to 5-0.

Sophomore midfielder Derek Bacchiochi (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) put the Bishops on the scoreboard with a goal just over a minute into the action, and junior midfielder Derek Todd (Edina, Minn.) followed with a goal before scores by Tennant and sophomore midfielder Luke Leyden (Northfield, Mass./Northfield Mt. Hermon) came just 35 seconds apart.

Dietz rang-up back-to-back goals to increase the Bishop lead to 6-0, and Maier followed with a score before Tennant notched 3 consecutive goals, the last coming with :11 on the clock.  Dietz added a goal off a Tennant feed with just 3 seconds left in the period for an 11-0 Ohio Wesleyan lead.

The Bishops added 9 more goals during the second quarter, with senior attacker P.J. Beach (Huntington, N.Y.) scoring 4 times, and outscored the Little Giants, 4-0, during the third period, highlighted by a pair of goals from freshman midfielder Steven Hildebrand (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga).

Steven Stark put Wabash on the scoreboard with a goal early in the fourth period, and added a man-up score later in the quarter.

Tennant led the Bishops with 5 goals and an assist, while Beach had 4 goals and 2 assists and Dietz added 3 goals and 2 assists.  Junior Ben Rigger (Decatur, Ga.) was not tested during the first quarter in the Ohio Wesleyan goal.  Freshman Jameson Hill (Wilton, Conn.) had 3 saves during the second quarter and sophomore Xander Pacilio (Philadelphia, Pa./Springside Chestnut Hill) had 10 saves during the second half.

Stark scored 2 goals for Wabash.  Gage Brock was credited with 9 saves for the Little Giants.
