Sophomore attacker Conor Caffrey (Scituate, Mass./Brewster (N.H.) Academy) had 2 goals and an assist as 20th-ranked Ohio Wesleyan closed out the first quarter with a 5-1 run and went on to defeat Wooster in its North Coast Athletic Conference finale on Saturday at Selby Stadium.

With the win, Ohio Wesleyan finished second in the NCAC championship race and will be the No. 2 seed in next week's NCAC tournament.  The Bishops will host third-seeded Wittenberg in an NCAC tournament semifinal at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Selby Stadium.

Junior midfielder Luke Leyden (Northfield, Mass./Northfield Mt. Hermon) staked the Bishops to an early lead, but Wooster answered with a man-up goal from Josh Herold just over 30 seconds later, and after a score by sophomore attacker Max Tennant (Englewood, Colo./Cherry Creek), the Fighting Scots took a 3-2 lead on scores by Matt Parmelee and Aidan Crowe.

Just 8 seconds after Wooster had taken the 3-2 lead, Caffrey found Tennant for a goal to tie the game at 3, and exactly one minute after that, it was Caffrey off a feed from sophomore midfielder Cole Jamieson (Okemos, Mich.) to put the Bishops ahead to stay.  Senior midfielder Derek Todd (Edina, Minn.) followed with a goal, and Caffrey and Leyden scored goals only 15 seconds apart during the final minute of the period, which ended with the Bishops holding a 7-4 lead.

Jamieson and freshman midfielder Lucas Smith (Purcellville, Va./Woodgrove) continued the Ohio Wesleyan run with second-quarter scores that extended the margin to 9-4 at the intermission, and sophomore attacker Steven Hildebrand (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) and senior attacker Matt Maier (Summit, N.J.) opened the third quarter with goals for to make it 11-4.

The Fighting Scots rallied with goals from Sam Kuhn and Ian Brim midway through the third quarter, but the Bishops pulled away with a man-up goal by Tennant and goals from Maier and Hildebrand for a 14-6 lead early in the fourth quarter.

Caffrey led the Bishops with 2 goals and 7 assists, while Maier finished with 4 goals and 3 assists and Tennant scored 4 goals.  Freshman Andrew Halmi (Freehold, N.J./Colts Neck) made 2 saves during the first half and freshman Joey Sichenzia (Sayville, N.Y.) stopped 5 shots during the second half.

Herold led Wooster with 3 goals and an assist.  Wesley Wagner had 13 saves for the Fighting Scots.
