Richeson Stands Out for Men's Track & Field

Freshman Cade Richeson (Worthington/Thomas Worthington) turned in Ohio Wesleyan's best individual finish at the Spire Midwest Open, hosted by the Spire Institute on Saturday in Geneva, Ohio.

The meet, which attracted competitors from NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA institutions, was not scored.

Richeson finished second in the shot put with a throw of 54-7.  He also finished 13th in the weight throw with an effort of 42-5¾.

Other standouts for the Bishops included sophomore Ryan Lesmez (Arlington, Va./Yorktown), who was sixth in the mile run in 4:19.06; senior Nate Newman (Chillicothe/Zane Trace), who placed ninth in the high jump by clearing 6-3, ninth in the long jump with a leap of 20-10, and 14th in the 60-meter hurdles in :08.77; senior Justin Reznik (Columbia Station/Columbia), who finished 11th in the weight throw with an effort of 45-1¾; freshman Marquis Sena (Bronx, N.Y./Institute for Math & Science), who finished 13th in the 60-meter dash in :07.20; senior Nick Horton (Westerville/North), who was 17th in the 3000-meter run in 8:51.58; sophomore Darcy Isaiah (Akron/Firestone), who placed 19th in the 800-meter run in 1:59.40; and sophomore Zach Thayer (Hilliard/Darby), who finished 20th in the weight throw with an effort of 39-6½.

The Ohio Wesleyan 1600-meter relay team of junior Tommy Davis (Clyde), Isaiah, Lesmez, and freshman Kudzovi Nuakey (Canal Winchester/Groveport Madison) finished 10th in 3:29.29.
