Box Score
Bluffton 11, Ohio Wesleyan 9

Senior shortstop Colin Stolly (Lima/Central Catholic) doubled home the go-ahead run in the bottom of the eighth, but Bluffton rallied for 3 runs in the top of the ninth to escape Littick Field with a non-conference win over Ohio Wesleyan on Wednesday.

With the score tied at 8 in the bottom of the eighth, junior catcher Dalton Henderson (Bethel/New Richmond) drew a leadoff walk, moved to second on a sacrifice by freshman third baseman Austin Harper (Sycamore/Mohawk), and scored on Stolly's double into the leftfield corner.

In the top of the ninth, Bluffton's Dennis Szalai drew a leadoff walk, then moved to second on a sacrifice by Chase Lawniczak.  After Colin Gregory was hit by a pitch, Ryan Golden followed with a single to left center to score Szalai and even the score at 9.  Jon Doering followed with a ground ball up the middle to senior second baseman Matthew Messick (Dublin/Scioto), but Stolly mishandled Messick's toss to the second-base bag and all runners were safe, loading the bases.  Parker Reynolds then sent a fly ball down the rightfield line, but it was not deep enough to score Gregory.  Jacob Latkofsky followed with a ground ball to the left side that got past a diving Harper and Stolly, with 2 runs scoring on the play.

Brantley Curnutte, the last of 9 Bluffton pitchers, retired the Bishops in order in the bottom of the ninth to nail down the win.

Ohio Wesleyan had taken a 2-1 lead on first-inning RBI singles by sophomore first baseman Mitchell Raley (Hamilton/Badin) and sophomore first baseman Canyon McWilliams (Shaker Heights).

Golden launched a 3-run homer to put the Beavers up, 4-2, in the third, and the visitors added a run on a Latkofsky double, a sacrifice, and an infield out by Bryce Fink in the fourth.

The Bishops erupted for 5 runs in the bottom of the fourth, with freshman outfielder Cole Antle (Grove City) lining a bases-clearing double down the leftfield line and Stolly driving a 2-run double into the leftfield corner later in the inning.

The visitors evened the score at 8 on Doering's bases-loaded double in the top of the seventh.

Stolly was 3-for-5 with 3 RBI, Antle drove in 3 runs, and Raley was 2-for-5 for Ohio Wesleyan.  Sophomore righthander Cody Brown (Lebanon) was charged with the loss in relief.
