Sophomore first baseman Canyon McWilliams (Shaker Heights) staked Ohio Wesleyan to an early lead and the Bishops went on to record a non-conference win over Nichols on Friday in Punta Gorda, Fla.

McWilliams singled home a pair of runs in the top of the first inning for a 2-0 Ohio Wesleyan lead.

The Bishops added a run in the fourth on an RBI single by freshman outfielder Nick Sala (Oviedo, Fla.) and increased their lead to 5-0 as senior outfielder Michael Blatchford (Shaker Heights) and sophomore catcher Tim Robinson (Washington Court House/Washington) plated runs in the fifth.

Nichols got on the scoreboard in the sixth on a bases-loaded fielder's choice off the bat of Chirs Cerniglia.

Senior second baseman Matthew Messick (Dublin/Scioto) singled home a run during the Bishops' 2-run eighth inning.

Freshman outfielder Cole Antle (Grove City) went 4-for-5 for Ohio Wesleyan, while Blatchford was 2-for-4 with 3 runs scored.  Senior righthander Kevin Zullo (Hudson) pitched the first 6.0 innings, striking out 5 and walking none, to record the win.

StigErik McElhinney was the starting and losing pitcher for the Bison.
