Sophomore Ryan Lesmez (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) and freshman Cade Richeson (Worthington/Thomas Worthington) won events to lead Ohio Wesleyan during the first day of the Dr. Jack Toms Alumni Invitational, hosted by Lynchburg College on Friday in Lynchburg, Va.
Lesmez won the 5000-meter run in 15:12.31.
Richeson won the shot put with a throw of 48-7½ and added a sixth-place finish in the hammer.
Other standouts for the Bishops included sophomore Zach Thayer (Hilliard/Darby), who was second in the hammer and fifth in the discus; sophomore Jayson Blankenship (Medina), who finished third in the pole vault; sophomore Darcy Isaiah (Akron/Firestone), who was fourth in the 800-meter run; senior Justin Reznik (Columbia Station/Columbia), who finished fourth in the hammer; junior Quinton Broomfield (Gahanna/Lincoln), who placed fifth in the 110-meter hurdles and seventh in the 400-meter hurdles; junior Delontaye Morrow (Medina), who was fifth in the 100-meter dash and seventh in the long jump; junior Tommy Davis (Clyde), who finished fifth in the 200-meter dash; sophomore Nate Minic (Bradenton, Fla./Lakewood Ranch), who finished sixth in the long jump and tied for seventh in the 100-meter dash; and sophomore Ahmed Hamed (Hilliard/Bradley), who was sixth in the 5000-meter run.
The Ohio Wesleyan 400-meter relay team of Morrow, Davis, sophomore Justin Friday (Fort Washington, Md./Georgetown Day School (D.C.)), and freshman Marquis Sena (Bronx, N.Y./Institute for Math & Science) finished fourth, while the 1600-meter relay team of Isaiah, freshman Kudzovi Nuakey (Canal Winchester/Groveport Madison), Broomfield, and Davis was fifth.
