15th/16th-Ranked Bishops Sprint Past Kenyon

Junior attacker Steven Hildebrand (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) compiled 4 goals and 3 assists during the first quarter as 15th/16th-ranked Ohio Wesleyan built a 9-1 lead and went on to a win over Kenyon in North Coast Athletic Conference action on Saturday at Selby Stadium.

Hildebrand found junior attacker Max Tennant (Englewood, Colo./Cherry Creek) for a goal less than a minute into the game, then connected on an unassisted goal less than a minute later for a quick 2-0 Bishop lead.

Emilio Sosa put the Lords on the board with a man-up goal at the 10:17 mark of the period, but Hildebrand answered with a score just 30 seconds later.

Tennant and freshman attacker Will Anton (Madison, N.J.) scored to increase the margin to 5-1 midway through the period, and Ohio Wesleyan struck for 4 goals during the final 4 minutes of the quarter, with Hildebrand scoring twice and Tennant and junior attacker Jack Jeschke (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) each adding goals.

Jeschke tallied another goal in the opening minute of the second quarter, and senior defenseman Justin Smith (Coronado, Calif.) and senior midfielder Peter Hamblett (Portsmouth, N.H.) scored goals just 20 seconds apart to put Ohio Wesleyan ahead, 12-1.

Kenyon rallied with 3 consecutive goals, with Pierce Kraft scoring twice and Will Robbins following with a goal to bring the visitors within 12-4, but Tennant scored in the closing seconds of the half, and Hildebrand and Tennant each scored twice as the Bishops opened the second half with a 4-0 run that pushed the lead into double figures for good.

Hildebrand led the Bishops with 6 goals and 3 assists, Tennant finished with 6 goals, and Jeschke finished with 3 goals and 2 assists.  Senior Ben Rigger (Decatur, Ga.) recorded 5 saves in the first 38-plus minutes, and sophomore Joey Sichenzia (Sayville, N.Y.), freshman Zach Brasser (Westport, Conn./Millbrook (N.Y.) School), freshman Connar Mulcahy (Arlington, Va./Gonzaga (D.C.)), and senior Xander Pacilio (Philadelphia, Pa./Springside Chestnut Hill) also saw time in the Ohio Wesleyan crease.

Kraft had 3 goals for Kenyon.  Nick Connelly and Reed Levesque combined for 6 saves for the Lords.
