Senior Nate Newman (Chillicothe/Zane Trace), freshman Marquis Sena (Bronx, N.Y./Institute for Math & Science), and head coach Kris Boey won special awards as Ohio Wesleyan won its third consecutive North Coast Athletic Conference championship at the NCAC championship meet, hosted by Wabash College on Friday and Saturday in Crawfordsville, Ind.

Ohio Wesleyan won the meet with 140 points to 125 for host Wabash.  DePauw finished third with 93 points, followed by Allegheny (89), Wittenberg (88), Oberlin (60), Denison (54), Wooster (28), and Kenyon (24).

Newman was named Field Events Athlete of the Year.  He won the heptathlon with a score of 4776 points, his third straight title in that event; won the high jump by clearing 6-7 for his second consecutive crown in that event; won the 60-meter hurdles in a time of :08.38; and took all-conference honors with a second-place finish in the long jump.  He also finished fourth in the pole vault by clearing 13-11¾, losing the final all-conference spot on a tiebreaker; and finished seventh in the triple jump to score a total of 45 points in the meet.  This marks the third time that Newman has been named Field Events Athlete of the Year.  He previously received that honor in 2015 and 2017.

Sena was named NCAC Newcomer of the Year.  He won the 60-meter dash in :07.00 and helped Ohio Wesleyan's 800-meter relay team to a second-place finish, combining with junior Delontaye Morrow (Medina), junior Tommy Davis (Clyde), and sophomore Justin Friday (Fort Washington, Md./Georgetown Day School (D.C.)) to win all-conference honors in that event.

Freshman Cade Richeson (Worthington/Thomas Worthington) also won a conference championship.  Richeson won the shot put with a throw of 53-5¾, defeating his nearest competitor by more than 5 feet, and added a sixth-place finish in the weight throw.

Also winning All-NCAC honors were sophomore Jayson Blankenship (Medina), who finished second in the heptathlon and third in the pole vault; Morrow, who placed second in the 60-meter dash and added a fifth-place finish in the long jump; sophomore Ryan Lesmez (Arlington, Va./Yorktown), who was second in the mile run; and junior Quinton Broomfield (Gahanna/Lincoln), who placed third in the 60-meter hurdles.

Other standouts for the Bishops included senior Justin Reznik (Columbia Station/Columbia), who finished fourth in the weight throw; sophomore Darcy Isaiah (Akron/Firestone), who was fourth in the 800-meter run; Davis, who placed seventh in the 200-meter dash; freshman Kudzovi Nuakey (Canal Winchester/Groveport Madison), who was eighth in the 800-meter run; and sophomore Alex Barrett (Kingston, Wash.), who placed eighth in the triple jump.

The Ohio Wesleyan distance medley relay team of senior Nick Horton (Westerville/North), freshman Kyler Brock (Zanesville/New Concord John Glenn), Barrett, and sophomore Ahmed Hamed (Hilliard/Bradley) finished fourth, while the 1600-meter relay team of Davis, Nuakey, Isaiah, and Broomfield was sixth.

This marks the sixth time that Boey has been named NCAC Coach of the Year for men's indoor track & field.  He has been named NCAC Coach of the Year a total of 10 times in men's track & field and a total of 28 times during his career.
