Junior attacker Max Tennant (Englewood, Colo./Cherry Creek) scored 3 goals and junior attacker Jack Jeschke (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) and junior attacker Steven Hildebrand (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) added 2 apiece as 12th/13th-ranked Ohio Wesleyan built an 8-1 first-quarter lead and went on to a North Coast Athletic Conference win over Hiram on Saturday in Hiram.
Tennant put the Bishops on the scoreboard at the 11:36 mark of the first quarter, and senior midfielder Trent Schulte (Coronado, Calif.) scored just 13 seconds later to make it 2-0. Tennant and Jeschke followed with goals for a 4-0 Bishop lead midway through the period.
Jaret Walland scored a man-up goal to bring the Terriers within 4-1, but Ohio Wesleyan erupted for 4 goals during the final 3 minutes of the period, with Jeschke scoring with 2:45 remaining, Hildebrand adding a goal with 1:22 to go, and Hildebrand and Tennant notching goals during the final minute of the quarter to increase the margin to 8-1.
Tennant picked up the ground ball off the opening face-off of the second quarter and scored right away to make it 9-1, and freshman attacker Will Anton (Madison, N.J.) and Tennant scored goals less than 30 seconds apart for an 11-1 Bishop lead.
Tennant scored to kick off a 3-0 Ohio Wesleyan run that closed out the first half, giving the Bishops a 14-2 lead at the break.
Tennant led the Bishops with 6 goals, while Hildebrand finished with 2 goals and 4 assists and Jeschke added 2 goals and 2 assists. Senior Ben Rigger (Decatur, Ga.), sophomore Joey Sichenzia (Sayville, N.Y.), freshman Zach Brasser (Westport, Conn./Millbrook (N.Y.) School), and senior Xander Pacilio (Philadelphia, Pa./Springside Chestnut Hill) each played one quarter in the Ohio Wesleyan crease.
Nick Rollason had 2 goals and an assist for Hiram. Keagan Finegan and Liam Osborne combined for 20 saves in the Terrier goal.
