3rd of 10 at Cedarville Yellow Jacket Collegiate Outdoor Open
Senior Nick Horton (Westerville/North) won an event to lead Ohio Wesleyan at the Cedarville Yellow Jacket Collegiate Outdoor Open, hosted by Cedarville University on Saturday in Cedarville.
Cedarville won the meet with 181 points to 103 for Findlay. Ohio Wesleyan finished third with 97 points, followed by Indiana Tech (95), Northwood (88), Ohio Dominican (49), Walsh (40), Central State (28), Shawnee State (24), and Kentucky State (16).
Horton won the 3000-meter steeplechase in 10:09.40.
Other standouts for the Bishops included sophomore Ahmed Hamed (Hilliard/Bradley), who placed second in the 3000-meter steeplechase; freshman Cade Richeson (Worthington/Thomas Worthington), who was third in the shot put and fourth in the discus; sophomore Jayson Blankenship (Medina), who finished third in the pole vault; sophomore Justin Friday (Fort Washington, Md./Georgetown Day School (D.C.)), who was fourth in the 200-meter dash and eighth in the 100-meter dash; sophomore Josh Queener (Cardington/Cardington-Lincoln), who placed fourth in the 3000-meter steeplechase; sophomore Nate Minic (Bradenton, Fla./Lakewood Ranch), who finished fifth in the 100-meter dash; sophomore Zach Thayer (Hilliard/Darby), who was fifth in the hammer; senior Nate Newman (Chillicothe/Zane Trace), who placed fifth in the javelin; junior Delontaye Morrow (Medina), who was sixth in the 100-meter dash; sophomore Alex Barrett (Kingston, Wash.), who placed sixth in the long jump; freshman Clay Cheney (Marion/Pleasant), who finished seventh in the long jump; and junior Quinton Broomfield (Gahanna/Lincoln), who placed eighth in the 400-meter hurdles.
The Bishop 400-meter relay team of Morrow, junior Tommy Davis (Clyde), Minic, and freshman Marquis Sena (Bronx, N.Y./Institute for Math & Science) finished second, while the 1600-meter relay team of sophomore Darcy Isaiah (Akron/Firestone), Morrow, sophomore Ryan Lesmez(Arlington, Va./Yorktown), and Davis placed fourth.
