Sophomore first baseman Mitchell Raley (Hamilton/Badin) lined a walk-off single to knock in the winning run and lift Ohio Wesleyan over Capital in the nightcap of a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday at Littick Field.

In the opener, 3 Capital pitchers combined on a 5-hit shutout to give the Crusaders the win.

Ohio Wesleyan trailed, 7-6, heading into the bottom of the ninth inning of the nightcap but sophomore outfielder Jon Erhard (Newark/Newark Catholic) led off the inning with a single and freshman third baseman Austin Harper (Sycamore/Mohawk) reached when Capital pitcher Alex Mukensturm fielded his bunt and threw to second base too late to retire the lead runner.  Senior shortstop Colin Stolly (Lima/Central Catholic) sacrificed the runners to second and third, and an intentional walk to freshman outfielder Cole Antle (Grove City) loaded the bases.  Senior outfielder Michael Blatchford (Shaker Heights) then grounded to the left side of the infield and Crusader shortstop Connor Richardson knocked the ball down but had no play, bringing home the tying run.  Raley followed with a single to right to score Harper with the game-winning run.

The Bishops had taken a 4-0 lead in the second inning, highlighted by a 3-run homer by freshman catcher Matt Deskins (Mason), but Capital answered with 4 runs in the top of the third, with Richardson lining a 2-run single up the middle and Shayne Lyons following with a run-scoring double.

Deskins singled home a run in the third and freshman second baseman Trevor Taus (Aurora, Ill./Marmion Academy) plated a run with a sacrifice fly in the fifth, giving the Bishops a 6-4 lead.

Capital evened the game in the sixth and took the lead in the eighth, setting up the Bishops' ninth-inning comeback.

Raley went 4-for-5 and scored 3 runs, while Deskins had 2 hits and drove in 4 runs.  Sophomore righthander Cody Brown (Lebanon) was the winning pitcher in relief.

Mukensturm was the losing pitcher for Capital.

In the opener, Daniel Walters singled home 2 runs during Capital's 3-run first inning.  The Crusaders scored 6 times in the sixth, capped by a 2-run double by Drew Ellis, and added 4 runs in the seventh and 5 more in the eighth.

Senior righthander Kevin Zullo (Hudson) was the starting and losing pitcher for Ohio Wesleyan.
