Ohio Wesleyan 7, Muskingum 6

Freshman catcher Zack Stiteler (Lewis Center/Olentangy Orange) belted a 2-run homer to lift Ohio Wesleyan to a non-conference win over Muskingum on Wednesday at Littick Field.

The Bishops trailed, 6-5, in the bottom of the seventh when sophomore first baseman Canyon McWilliams (Shaker Heights) drew a 2-out walk and Stiteler followed with a 2-run shot that put Ohio Wesleyan ahead to stay.

From there, junior righthander Jackson Brownstein (Houston, Texas/Bellaire) faced the minimum in the eighth inning and senior righthander Kevin Zullo (Hudson) put runners on the corners with one out in the ninth but worked out of the jam to nail down the win.

Muskingum had taken a 3-0 lead in the first inning, getting a 2-run double by Marc Ibarra and taking advantage of 3 errors in the inning.  Brad Donathan added a 2-run homer in the second for a 5-0 Muskie lead.

Freshman outfielder Cole Antle (Grove City) led off the bottom of the second with a home run to put Ohio Wesleyan on the scoreboard, and senior outfielder Michael Blatchford (Shaker Heights) and sophomore outfielder Jon Erhard (Newark/Newark Catholic) added RBI singles later in the inning.

The Bishops pushed across 2 runs without the benefit of a hit in the fifth frame, loading the bases as Blatchford walked, Erhard was hit by a pitch, and McWilliams walked.  Stiteler and Antle then lofted back-to-back sacrifice flies to even the game at 5.

Holden Martin knocked in a run to give the Muskies a 6-5 lead in the sixth.

Sophomore righthander Seth Pritchett (Centerville) pitched the first 5.0 innings, striking out 4 and walking 2.  Brownstein worked 2.1 innings of scoreless relief to pick up the win, and Zullo notched a save with a scoreless ninth inning.

Kyle Gannon was the losing pitcher in relief for Muskingum.
