Junior attacker Max Tennant (Englewood, Colo./Cherry Creek) rang up 6 first-quarter goals and broke school and conference records as 7th/9th-ranked Ohio Wesleyan built a 10-2 lead and went on to a win over DePauw in a semifinal contest of the North Coast Athletic Conference tournament on Wednesday at Selby Stadium.

Ohio Wesleyan advances to face 9th/11th-ranked Denison in the tournament championship game, set for 4 p.m. on Saturday at Selby Stadium.  Denison advanced to the title tilt with a 14-6 win over Kenyon on Wednesday.

Tennant tallied Ohio Wesleyan's first 4 goals in a span of less than 2 minutes.  His marker at 13:19 put the Bishops on the scoreboard, and he followed with a run of 3 goals in 63 seconds to put Ohio Wesleyan in front, 4-0.

Tennant closed out the first quarter in similar fashion, scoring with :08 left in the period, and after the Bishops won the ensuing face-off, it was senior midfielder Luke Leyden (Northfield, Mass./Northfield Mt. Hermon) sending a pass to Tennant, who beat the first-quarter horn for a 10-2 Bishop lead.

The Bishops pulled away with 3 man-up goals during the second period, with junior attacker Steven Hildebrand (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) finding Tennant for one score and Tennant returning the favor with a pass to Hildebrand for a goal during the same non-releaseable penalty.  Later in the quarter, Tennant fed Leyden for a man-up goal that stretched the margin to 13-2.

Tennant followed with a goal just 18 seconds later to wrap up the first-half scoring.

Freshman attacker Will Anton (Madison, N.J.) and freshman midfielder Max Johnston (Toledo/St. Francis DeSales) had 2 goals apiece during the second half.

Tennant led the Bishops with 8 goals, raising his season total to 71 and breaking both the Ohio Wesleyan mark of 64 set by Don Sheehan in 1981 and tied by Dave Maguire in 1996 and 1997 as well as the conference record of 65 goals set by Spencer Butler and Will Donohue of Denison in 2017.

Tennant also contributed 2 assists to finish the night with a career-high 10 points.  Hildebrand and Leyden each added 2 goals and 2 assists.  Senior Ben Rigger (Decatur, Ga.), sophomore Joey Sichenzia (Sayville, N.Y.), freshman Zach Brasser (Westport, Conn./Millbrook (N.Y.) School), freshman Connar Mulcahy (Arlington, Va./Gonzaga (D.C.)), and senior Xander Pacilio (Philadelphia, Pa./Springside Chestnut Hill) combined for 11 saves in the Ohio Wesleyan crease.

Ben Sherman had a goal and an assist for DePauw.  Charlie Robson and Joey Franklin combined for 11 saves for the Tigers.
