Freshman catcher Zack Stiteler (Lewis Center/Olentangy Orange) belted a 2-run double to put Ohio Wesleyan on the scoreboard, but DePauw held on for a non-conference win in the nightcap of a North Coast Athletic Conference doubleheader on Saturday in Greencastle, Ind.
In the opener, freshman outfielder Cole Antle (Grove City) doubled in a run to give the Bishops an early lead, but the Tigers scored 17 consecutive runs to take the win.
Sophomore outfielder Jon Erhard (Newark/Newark Catholic) singled with one out and scored on Antle's 2-out double to give the Bishops a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning of the opener.
DePauw responded with 3 runs in the bottom of the inning, with Spencer Youngcourt singling in a run, and added a 2-run double by Sam Comer in the third and a 2-run homer by Collin Einertson in the fifth.
Erhard was 2-for-4 for the Bishops. Senior righthander Kevin Zullo (Hudson) was the starting and losing pitcher for Ohio Wesleyan.
Tyler Holt pitched the first 8.1 innings, scattering 5 hits, to record the win.
Youngcourt singled in a run to cap DePauw's 2-run first inning in the nightcap, then singled home a run in the fifth to give the Tigers a 4-0 lead.
Sophomore shortstop Carter Franklin (Wooster/Canton Central Catholic) singled to lead off the sixth. Erhard walked with one out, and both runners scored on Stiteler's double to right center.
