Sophomore Mike Heeschen (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg Area) and junior Darcy Isaiah (Akron/Firestone) won events for Ohio Wesleyan at the Marv Frye Invitational, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan on Friday and Saturday at Selby Stadium and the George Gauthier Track.
The meet was not scored.
Heeschen won the javelin with a throw of 165-10.
Isaiah won the 800-meter run in 1:56.45.
Other standouts for the Bishops included senior Griffin Peyton (Cincinnati/Anderson), who placed second in the javelin and third in the 100-meter dash; sophomore Ryan Lesmez (Arlington, Va./Yorktown), who finished second in the 1500-meter run; sophomore Zach Thayer (Hilliard/Darby), who was third in the hammer; freshman Marquis Sena (Bronx, N.Y./Institute for Math & Science), who placed fourth in the 100-meter dash; freshman Kudzovi Nuakey (Canal Winchester/Groveport Madison), who finished fourth in the 800-meter run; junior Daniel Frame (Tipp City/Tippecanoe), who was fourth in the 5000-meter run; sophomore Nate Minic (Bradenton, Fla./Lakewood Ranch), who finished fourth in the long jump; senior Nick Horton (Westerville/North), who was fifth in the 1500-meter run; freshman Kyler Brock (Zanesville/New Concord John Glenn), who placed sixth in the 400-meter dash; senior Justin Reznik (Columbia Station/Columbia), who finished sixth in the hammer; and freshman Cade Richeson (Worthington/Thomas Worthington), who was eighth in the hammer.
The Marv Frye Invitational honors the longtime Battling Bishop mentor, who coached the Ohio Wesleyan men's track & field team from 1961-97. Frye also coached men's cross country, women's track & field, and women's cross country during his time at Ohio Wesleyan, and remains active in the central Ohio track & field community.
