Freshman outfielder Nick Sala (Oviedo, Fla.) drove in 8 runs and senior outfielder Michael Blatchford (Shaker Heights) tied a school record to help Ohio Wesleyan sweep Hiram in a North Coast Athletic Conference doubleheader on Wednesday at Littick Field.

The Terriers took the lead in the first inning of the opener on an RBI double by P.J. Suso, but junior righthander Jackson Brownstein (Houston, Texas/Bellaire) bounced back to strike out Will Howell and Vince Lonigro to get out of the inning without any further damage.

Ohio Wesleyan took the lead with 3 runs in the bottom of the first inning, highlighted by Sala's 2-run single, and the Bishops would go on to score in each of the first 7 innings, with freshman outfielder Cole Antle (Grove City) driving in runs in the second and fourth frames and sophomore first baseman Canyon McWilliams (Shaker Heights) highlighting a 4-run fifth with an RBI single.

Trailing, 11-1, entering the top of the sixth, Hiram struck for 7 runs, getting a 3-run homer by Lonigro during the inning as the visitors narrowed the deficit to 11-8.

Sala blasted a 2-run homer in the bottom of the inning, and senior third baseman Colin Stolly (Lima/Central Catholic) doubled in 2 runs during Ohio Wesleyan's 6-run seventh.

Sala went 3-for-6 with 3 runs scored and 4 RBI, while freshman catcher Zack Stiteler (Lewis Center/Olentangy Orange) was 3-for-5 with 3 RBI, Stolly went 2-for-3 with 3 runs scored and 3 RBI, and McWilliams finished at 2-for-3 with 3 runs scored and 3 RBI.

Brownstein pitched 5-plus innings, striking out 5 and walking none, to record the win.  Justin Joyce was the starting and losing pitcher for Hiram.

Ohio Wesleyan struck for 10 runs in the bottom of the first inning of the nightcap, with Blatchford leading off the inning with a single and adding a 2-run double later in the frame.  Sala singled in 2 runs and junior catcher Dalton Henderson (Bethel/New Richmond) also delivered a 2-run single.

McWilliams launched a 3-run homer in the third, and Sala followed with a solo shot.  The Bishops would go on to add a run in the fourth and 2 more in the sixth.

Curtis Caithaml put the Terriers on the scoreboard with an RBI double in the seventh.

Blatchford was 4-for-6 with 5 runs scored and 2 RBI.  He lined 3 doubles, tying the Ohio Wesleyan school record for the second time this season.

Sala went 3-for-6 with 3 runs scored and 4 RBI, while sophomore outfielder Jon Erhard (Newark/Newark Catholic) was 3-for-5 with 5 runs scored and Antle went 3-for-6 with 3 RBI.

Sophomore righthander Seth Pritchett (Centerville), worked the first 6.0 innings, blanking the Terriers on 5 hits while striking out 6 and walking one.  Kyle Harris was the starting and losing pitcher for Hiram.
