Box Score
Oberlin 53, Ohio Wesleyan 43

Senior guard Erin Delaney (Toledo/Notre Dame Academy) sank a jumper to give Ohio Wesleyan the lead early in the fourth quarter, but Oberlin answered with a 15-2 run and went on to record a North Coast Athletic Conference win over the Bishops on Wednesday in Oberlin.

Delaney's jumper from the lane gave the Bishops a 37-36 lead with 7:57 left in regulation time.

Alexandra Stipano connected from 3-point range on Oberlin's ensuing possession, putting the Yeowomen ahead to stay, then followed with a fast-break lay-in for a 41-37 Oberlin lead.

Freshman post Cierra Joiner (Centerburg) followed with a lay-in to bring the Bishops within a bucket, but Oberlin would score the next 10 points, collecting another Stipano 3-pointer and a pair of baskets from Olivia Canning to stretch the lead to 48-39 with 4:11 left in regulation time.  A Tyler Collins free throw stretched the margin to double digits, and Stipano added a basket to give Oberlin a 51-39 lead with 1:09 to go.

Junior guard Claire Sterling (West Jefferson) sank 4 straight free throws to bring the Bishops within 8, but that was as close as Ohio Wesleyan would come.

Sophomore guard Tia Karras (Bellbrook/Miami Valley) scored 6 points as the Bishops raced to a 10-3 lead just over 3 minutes into the contest, and Ohio Wesleyan would open up a 19-10 lead after a lay-in by junior post Elea Karras (Bellbrook/Miami Valley) late in the first quarter.

A Sterling lay-in early in the second quarter pushed the Bishop lead back to 9 points at 21-12, but Ohio Wesleyan would score only 2 points during the final 8:57 of the period as Oberlin came back to even the game at 23 on a Jasmine Sorrells jumper during the final minute of the quarter.

Joiner opened the second half with a pair of buckets that put Ohio Wesleyan ahead by 4, but after Canning answered with a hoop for the Yeowomen, it would remain a one-possession game for the rest of the third period and into the fourth quarter, when Oberlin began its pivotal 15-2 run.

Joiner led the Bishops with 12 points, while Sterling posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds and added a team-best 4 assists.

Stipano led Oberlin with 16 points.
