Rowing Competes in Inaugural Buckeye-Bishop Cup

The Ohio Wesleyan rowing team hosted its first-ever regatta on Sunday, taking on the Ohio State club team at the Arch City/OWU Boatyard in Lewis Center.

The Ohio Wesleyan Varsity 8 boat of sophomore coxswain Madeline Nemeth (Cincinnati/Oak Hills), senior Mahnoor Ansari (Lahore, Pakistan/Beaconhouse), junior Fiona Roddy (Mount Vernon/Fredericktown), sophomore Catie Hyatt (Lodi/Cloverleaf), sophomore Annabella Miller (Wellington), sophomore Sana Hussain (Karachi, Pakistan/Cedar College), sophomore Carys Diaz (Indianapolis, Ind./Herron), freshman Katherine Dunn (Grosse Pointe, Mich./Walker (Conn.) School), and freshman Caroline Parker (Louisville, Ky./St. Francis) and the Ohio State boat opened the day with 3 short pieces, with the boats going for 2 minutes at 24, then 26, and finally 28 strokes per minute.

The teams then competed in a 10-minute open-rate race, with the Buckeye boat winning by a margin of approximately 300 meters.

With the win in the 10-minute race, the Buckeyes claimed the inaugural Buckeye-Bishop Cup.

The regatta concluded with a 5-minute piece at 28 strokes per minute, won by Ohio State.
