Sophomore attacker Megan McElgunn (Cohasset, Mass.) and junior attacker Sloane Baumgartner (Naperville, Ill./St. Francis) combined for 7 goals and 4 assists during a game-opening 9-1 run that started Ohio Wesleyan on its way to a non-conference win over Pacific on Wednesday in Forest Grove, Ore.

McElgunn put the Bishops on the scoreboard in the second minute of play, and Baumgartner followed with a pair of goals and set up freshman midfielder Sarah Hanley (Farmington, Mich.) on a goal that made it 4-0 just under 7 minutes into the action.

Roya Tahamessebi ended that Bishop run with a goal to put the Boxers on the scoreboard, but the Bishops got back-to-back goals from McElgunn, followed by scores from Baumgartner, freshman midfielder Olivia Beauchamp (Middlebury, Vt./Middlebury Union), and McElgunn to extend the lead to 9-1 with 9:19 left in the first half.

After Tahamessebi tallied again for Pacific, McElgunn and sophomore attacker Emily Sheridan (North Smithfield, R.I./Marianapolis (Conn.) Prep) closed out the first half with scores to give the Bishops an 1-2 lead at the break.

Baumgartner and Sheridan opened the second half with goals, and the lead would remain in double digits through the remainder of the game.

McElgunn led the Bishops with 8 goals and 2 assists.  The 8 goals tied for second place on the Bishop single-game list, while the 10 points tied for fifth place.

Baumgartner finished with 4 goals and 3 assists.  Senior Kelly Coffyn (Bainbridge Island, Wash./Bainbridge) recorded 3 saves.

Tahamessebi led Pacific with 3 goals and an assist.  Madyson Ivey finished with 4 saves for the Boxers.
