Sophomore attacker Megan McElgunn (Cohasset, Mass.), junior attacker Sloane Baumgartner (Naperville, Ill./St. Francis), and freshman midfielder Sarah Hanley (Farmington, Mich.) scored 2 goals apiece for Ohio Wesleyan, but Otterbein used a 5-1 second-half run to pull away for a non-conference win over the Bishops on Wednesday at Selby Stadium.
The Cardinals took the lead with goals from Lexie Van Cleef and Julia Karas, but Ohio Wesleyan answered with consecutive scores by McElgunn to even the game at 2.
The teams would trade goals 3 more times, with the visitors taking a 5-4 lead at the break on a Karas goal in the closing minutes of the half and Ohio Wesleyan knotting the score at 5 on a goal by sophomore attacker Paige Ross (Boston, Mass./) early in the second half.
Karas converted a free-position shot to put the Cardinals ahead to stay, and Cameron Finnegan followed with a free-position whot midway through the half for a 7-5 Otterbein lead.
Hanley scored off a feed from Baumgartner to bring the Bishops within 7-6 with 12:47 left in regulation time, but Otterbein answered with back-to-back scores from Finnegan and another by Van Cleef to extend the lead to 10-6.
McElgunn finished with 2 goals and 2 assists, while Baumgartner added 2 goals and an assist and Hanley had 2 goals. Senior Kelly Coffyn (Bainbridge Island, Wash./Bainbridge) recorded 11 saves.
Karas led Otterbein with 4 goals. Allison Rhoads stopped 2 shots for the Cardinals.
