Sophomore midfielder Jenn Douglas (Easton, Md./Saints Peter and Paul) scored to give Ohio Wesleyan the lead, and the Bishops withstood a pair of potential game-tying shots on the way to a non-conference win over Adrian on Monday in Adrian, Mich.

The Bulldogs had broken an 8-8 tie by opening the second half with scores by Maddie Nicholas, Olive Stevens, and Carlee Casteel, the latter 2 goals coming 21 seconds apart and giving Adrian an 11-8 lead.

Douglas converted a free-position shot midway through the period to bring the Bishops within 11-9, and junior attacker Sloane Baumgartner (Naperville, Ill./St. Francis) scored with 5:15 to play to bring the Bishops within 11-10.

Just 24 seconds later, freshman mifdfielder Olivia Beauchamp (Middlebury, Vt./Middlebury Union) rang up a goal off a Douglas feed to even the score at 11.

Douglas then put the Bishops ahead, 12-11, with a goal at the 2:43 mark, courtesy of a feed from Baumgartner.

Adrian won the ensuing draw and Gwyneth Carlson drew a foul, but senior goalkeeper Kelly Coffyn (Bainbridge Island, Wash./Bainbridge) came up with the save on Carlson's free-position shot to preserve the lead.  Casteel had a look at the Bishop goal with :42 left, but her shot was wide, and the Bulldogs did not get off another shot.

Ohio Wesleyan had taken a 2-1 lead on scores by Douglas and Beauchamp, but Adrian went on a 7-1 run that included 2 goals apiece from Cristin Culbertson and Annie Rice, the latter giving the Bulldogs an 8-3 lead with 8:49 remaining.

The Bishops closed out the first half with 5 straight goals, collecting 2 apiece from Baumgartner and Douglas along the way, to even the game at 8 at the half.

Douglas led the Bishops with 5 goals and an assist, while Baumgartner finished with 4 goals and 3 assists.  Coffyn recorded a season-high 14 saves.
